Habitat Success Stories

Brown Family

I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA. I am 43 years old and have two beautiful daughters, Monetiaka (21) and Erica (13). Monetiaka is a senior at Xavier University. She is majoring in Elementary Education and she is planning to give back to the community by teaching in the New Orleans Public school system. Erica attends Lusher Charter school; she is in the 8th grade. She enjoys playing basketball and volleyball. Her favorite subjects are Social Studies and Science. My childhood was honored by both parents along with 5 other siblings. I have 2 sisters and 3 brothers. I am the youngest girl. My parents have been married 48 years, supporting my journey as much as they could. I was educated in the New Orleans Public School system. I graduated from Walter L. Cohen Sr. High School. I’m employed at Kipp Central City as Lead custodial (OMG). I love my job. We are a team and family, and we work hard. I am so proud to give my daughters a home to call their own. This is a dream come true. Special thanks to the volunteers and staff of New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity. Just remember you must have a plan to make things work, never give up. Worry about nothing & pray for everything.
