About Habitat and Build with Strength

New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity (NOAHH) partnered with The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s (NRMCA) Build with Strength Coalition to construct two new affordable, low carbon double unit homes in New Orleans utilizing insulated concrete forms (ICFs), a sustainable, noncombustible building system that reduced the upfront construction expenses while maximizing the structure’s durability and energy performance.

NOAHH has been working in partnership with hard-working, low-income families in New Orleans to build and finance new, safe affordable homes since its inception in 1983. The program makes homeownership possible for families who are unable to qualify for traditional home loans but have a stable job, good or no credit, and the willingness to contribute sweat equity volunteer hours to the building of Habitat homes. New Orleans Habitat continues to lead in long-term disaster recovery, heading major rebuilding efforts after Hurricanes Katrina and Ida, as well as engaging in disaster response work and partnerships for floods, tornados, and other storms
