Habitat Success Stories

Smith Family

My name is Kevin Smith. I was born and raised in New Orleans. Before Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the city was full of hope. Afterwards it felt like it would never be the same. The time spent away from home, all I could think about was New Orleans, like how I missed having King Cake at Mardi Gras; family and friends that were no longer around; second line brass bands making you feel good enough to dance and parade up the city streets.

Here we are in 2016 and the city has come a long way from devastation with the help of so many opening their hearts when people are in the time of need. I’d like to thank Habitat for Humanity for giving me and many others the opportunity to return and become home owners in this great city. Let’s keep the spirit of New Orleans alive together.
