Habitat Success Stories

Mendoza Family

My name is Irma Mendoza. I was born and raised in Santa Ana, El Salvador but I am a Resident of the United States of America. My parents are Maximino Mendoza and Emma Aguilar Mendoza. I also have one son, Mauricio Alexander Calles. I studied in El Salvador and came to the United States when I was 19 years old where I met my son’s father. We got married in 2009 but divorced in the year 2012. I have been working at Venezia’s restaurant in New Orleans, as a cook, for almost 5 years. At the present time my parents live with me as I take care of them.

I was very happy when I heard about the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity First Time Homebuyers Program . I always wanted to be a homeowner and I decided to apply. It has been a very satisfying experience and my family (mom, dad and son) can’t wait to move into our new HOME!
