Habitat Success Stories

Henry Family

Hi my name is Kina Henry and I am partnered with Habitat for Humanity of New Orleans. I am 25 years of age and I started my journey with Habitat when I was 24. So far my experience with Habitat has been a great and interesting one. I am so thankful and grateful for the people that work, volunteer and partner with Habitat for Humanity. I realize that these people and corporations make my whole process possible. I know for a fact that my Habitat family is dedicated and want to see people like me be blessed with a new home and a fresh start and I thank you all!

I am a single woman with no kids targeting success each day. I like to have fun, I love to laugh and I’ve had nothing but good times here at Habitat for Humanity. Habitat is a place that definitely challenges me and my ways of balancing my life, helps me to grow and teaches me new things each day while meeting amazing people. It’s nothing like getting a call from Ms Emily to keep you on track. At least that’s what she does for me. She’s amazing! I love the communication between the staff to partner family members. You definitely know these people care about you.

I work at Ace Hotel as an overnight room attendant and pool host. I also have my class A CDL to drive trucks and believe it or not I’ve actually driven dump trucks! I aspire to become a real estate investor as well as learning how to build houses. A few hidden talents I have are sewing and doing hair and I also love to cook. Furthermore, I love to travel, I can swim really well, science is my favorite subject and my favorite color is green. This is beginning to sound like a dating bio! Lol it’s not.

Habitat is the perfect catalyst for the next step in my life. This program is exactly what God has planned for me and it’s truly a blessing. I can’t wait to sign for, and own my own home and this I am so thankful for. I’m so excited and enthused about being picked for Women Build! Of all people I can’t believe I have been chosen, it’s unbelievable really. I would like to thank all of the women and people that will be helping and volunteering their time to build a home for me. May God bless you all.

In closing, to my Habitat family and staff thank you for going through this journey with me and allowing me to become partnered with this program. To my cousin Brittani and future neighbor, I love you so much! You get on my nerves, case closed.

Love Kina
