Prior to Hurricane Katrina, local lawyers, judges, and other legal professionals teamed up for NOAHH’s Bench & Bar Build to give back to the community by building homes for hard-working families. That tradition was renewed in 2018 and 2019.
Bench and Bar Build is a collaboration of local legal professionals (judges, partners, associates, paralegals, professional staff, government/non-profit employees) coordinated by New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers work side by side with a hard-working New Orleans Habitat Partner Family, who will purchase the home upon completion.
Way to Get Involved
Legal professionals are invited to participate in Bench and Bar Build through volunteering, sponsorship, and hospitality efforts. Whether you choose to swing a hammer, wield a paintbrush, recruit volunteers, or donate lunch and snacks, your support is valuable. This is an excellent opportunity to build relationships and strengthen professional networks, all while having a lasting impact on a Habitat partner family.
Participants will receive:
- Continental breakfast
- Post-build seafood and beverages
- Bench & Bar Build t-shirt
Bench & Bar Build sponsorships are available for groups with varying volunteer opportunities for groups of all sizes. Download the sponsorship packet to learn about how you can be a sponsor or click here to sign up. Bench and Bar 2022 will take place on Saturday, October 8, and Saturday, October 15!
