Volunteer

*Help to build a family's first home!          *Learn how to build a home!          *No experience required!

Last year alone, we had approximately 40,000 volunteers donating close to 700,000 hours of volunteer work!  We hope that you will join us in our expanded mission of building 1500 homes in the next 5 years.

New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity offers opportunities for you to help with all aspects of home building.  Please follow the steps below to become a volunteer with us.  (If you are a corporation or professional association, please contact our office directly before registering.)

Step 1: Please read through our Frequently Asked Questions.

Step 2: Check the Volunteer Calendar to see available volunteer opportunities.  If you are signing up for a date less than two weeks prior, please contact our office directly before registering.

Step 3:

  • Volunteer Groups, will need to visit the group volunteers page for more information after you review the rest of this page.
  • Individuals, please visit our individual volunteers page for more information after you review the rest of this page.

Step 4: Once you have scheduled yourself, please check your email.  You will receive an email confirming that you have scheduled your date(s).  If you signed up for the ReStore or Community Projects, all pertinent information will arrive in this email.  If you signed up for a Habitat Home Build, we will be sending you an email at least one week prior to your work date(s) asking you to reconfirm your date(s) (and group number if you are in a group).  Once you are reconfirmed, you will receive an email with your morning meeting place.  If you do not receive an email from us one week before your volunteer dates begin, please email us.

Once you have registered and scheduled to volunteer, please check your email for additional instructions immediately after you schedule your date(s) and two weeks prior to your scheduled date(s).  You must complete a Waiver and either bring it with you to the site or mail it in to our office.
