“Of all the things I’ve done of a volunteer nature, Habitat is the most satisfying. The reason is you can see changes taking place. First, in the neighborhood, in actual houses built. Second, in the homeowners, if you’re lucky enough to meet the homeowners, it’s a huge change in their lives.” – Wally Hymel, Core Volunteer

Core Volunteers

Core volunteers are a group of people who are committed to NOAHH and its mission. Our core volunteers are identified as individuals or small groups of friends/family members who volunteer with NOAHH (construction or ReStore) at least twice a month. No experience is necessary! Most volunteer more than that, but twice a month is the minimum. These dedicated members of our volunteer teams create deep bonds with our partner families, field staff, and targeted neighborhoods in the New Orleans area. Our core volunteer team also gathers for social events before and after volunteer days, as well as being included on special NOAHH sponsored events. It’s a wonderful way to meet other people, and be a part of a special community of those dedicated to fighting substandard housing in New Orleans.
