Habitat Success Stories

Jones-Lightfoot Family

Aldon and I met at work one morning. I worked as a teacher at McMillian Child Development Center where he was doing construction work on the building. I was living in the Carrollton area where I grew up and Aldon lived in Kenner where he was raised. We both come from family oriented backgrounds, close with our parents. I am the youngest of three girls, while Aldon is an only child. We both graduated from high school, myself from Xavier Prep and Aldon from Bonnabel. I am pursuing a degree in Early Childhood Education while my husband is pursuing a career as a Longshoreman for the Port of New Orleans. Aldon entered in the relationship with two beautiful children Unique, 8 and Aldon Jr., 6. We share a handsome 2 month old son, Kaldon. We were joined in marriage on November 3, 2012, a beautiful day we will always remember. We always shared a dream of owning our own home. We wanted a house to raise our wonderful kids, a place they can always call home. We are grateful and thankful to the Habitat of New Orleans for making our dream come true.
