Habitat Success Stories

Batiste Family

My name is Tyrone Batiste, and I was born on April 10, 1956 in New Orleans, LA. I have two sons: Patrick, age 20, and Gerian, age 19. Both are music education majors at Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. After residing here all my life, I relocated to Memphis,TN, due to Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. After returning, I became a truck driver for Jefferson Parish. My sons and I have also started a non-profit high school youth music and service fraternity. We do community service for several high schools and the neighboring community. All of our activities are conducted while mentoring the youth.

My thanks goes to God first, then to the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, for giving me the opportunity to become a homeowner in the city that I love.
